Beginners lessons are in basic partner dancing based on Jitterbug. No partner required, no experience necessary. These lessons are fun! An hour to learn, a life time to master! :-)
We have a manifesto:
Like cats, if you expect us to be one thing, we'll probably be the other. Like dogs we will never tire of playing together. So, if you look at us with preconceptions, our stereo may not play your type, but if you don't adhere to them, then you're ours.
What we do is not strictly "swing" and the music we play is not limited to "goth." But what is swing and what was goth?
In a world where dance and music evolve through the decades, how is there only one answer to that quandary? We see no reason to be strict about or limited by anything. Both swing and goth flew in the face of convention, so confining ourselves to conformity wouldn't be true to either.
If you're willing to look beyond the semantics, the only question that matters is, "Would you care to dance?"
* By "goth" we mean a member of an alternative to mainstream community, including Ren Faire people, Dickens Faire people, Brit Pop/Indie Rockers...
** By "swing dance" we mean anyone who jitterbugs, lindys, waltzes, balboas, charlestons, Irish dances... or oh boy this list could go on and on. You get the point.
*** Swing Goths just sounds better than Faire Balboaers, or Indie Rock Irish Dancers. We're inclusive, not exclusive.
