Fusion

We're finally back from our long hiatus. We're now getting back on track practicing and hopefully performing in the near future. However there is one bit of news...we are dropping the name Dunyavi and just going with Nocturnelle. We're basically going to fuse our darker side with tribal fusion so hopefully things will be interesting!! However we're truely a fusion group and so we'll still occasionally do more traditional tribal so there should be something for all.

So please if you're still interested in keeping in touch with us, drop over by Nocturnelle tribe http://tribes.tribe.net/nocturnelle
and check us out. I'll be transferring pictures and such over to nocturnelle and eventually I'm dropping Dunyavi.

A good bit of news too!!! I've added two dancers to our troupe. One is in training and one has been dancing for a few years now. They're both extremely wonderful personalities and I'll let them introduce themselves over at Nocturnelle.

We're so excited to get started, so stay tuned!

Since it has been quite some time since we have all gotten together for ANYTHING I think the time has come for us to plan a little something.
Hafla, video night, pizza and beer or out to dinner - it doesn't matter. Whatever everyone wants to do.

BUT we needs some fucking bonding here, some fucking quality time.
Dammit people, where the fuck is the love? Where has the love gone? Where have the people gone? : P

OK profanity and insulting references to your virtue aside, I've been talking about this for months. So I'm just trying to move out of the talking and into the doing phase.

Don't know everyone's schedule, so get on here and post and lets plan some shit.
And I do mean shit in the figurative sense, in case anyone was wondering. . . : )

What's going on people? How ya'll doin?

I am just popping up to let everyone know that we have a couple of big events coming up. My apologies for not posting anything sooner, but time just flies and honestly it kind of snuck up on me.

Pagan Pride Day is THIS Saturday Septemeber 16th.
I will be performing 12:30-1:00 and teaching a bellydancing basics class 5:00- 6:00.

Next Weekend - September 23rd is the Medieval Festival on Oatland Island. It's going to be a lot of fun - ya'll should check it out. . . .
Dunyavi will be performing
and Leah, costume designer extraordinaire and proprietor of East Coast Tribal will be vending as well.
SO come on out, take in the sights, munch on a turkey leg, watch some bellydancing and buy some attractive and reasonably priced tribal costuming and accoutrements ; )

Got a studio!

OK guys

I finally got a call back for a studio space. It will be at the Savannah Danse Theatre, which is the building next to Jalapeno's on Whitmarsh.

She told me she was going to spread the word around her classes and told me to try to drum up some people. She's going to work out a rental fee based on how many people show.

So my first class there will be Tuesday August 1st at 7 pm. Please spread the word around.

See you guys Thursday at practice.

Tribal Pura and Tribal Con

Okay, I talked it over with hubby and I can go to both workshops. Actually, I'm also able to go to one of Rachel's upcoming workshop. I hear she's got one in South Carolina which I want to check out. The one in March down in Orlando is a 5 day workshop and theres already a bunch signed up. So I'll see about that one!

Anyway, I've paid for Tribal pura and Tribal Con. Hopefully pura hasn't been sold out but I'll find out soon enough!

So if we are not going to be using it for class I'm going to need to get that back. Could you please bring it with you on Thursday.

I don't mind lugging it back and forth if we use it sometimes. Or we could just save it for performances. . .

What a nightmare

You should be happy not to have had to experience last nights horror show. What a freaking nightmare. Okay, so the bus shows up and it's a bunch of older men. They had some singer/guitarist who was getting ready to play and the announcer couldn't get the men to shut up enough for him to introduce the guy. So we knew it was going to be a rowdy bunch. Thankfully, nothing happened to me last night (I guess me being intimidating to people paid off!) However Nichole started doing her sword routine. This asshole gets up and gets in her face and started to wave his hands around and making faces at her while she's trying to balance the damn sword. She gets up and starts winging the sword around trying to keep this guy away from her. But he wouldn't give up. Then her second song comes on and she's dancing and that asshole walks up to her with some money and shoves it down INTO her bra. She slapped him and walked "offstage". We told the manager of the restaurant and he tells the guy who was running the show. Another guy comes up to me and Nichole and hands us $100 probably to shut us up more so than as a "I'm sorry" gesture. The manager and the leader of the group gets up and tells people they need to calm down and be respectful of the dancers. We were serious ly thinking of leaving but for some stupid reason we decided to stay. The second half of the dancing was much better (they ignored us after that so we danced for ourselves.) We passed around a tip jar and thankfully Tiffany pulled out the money when she did because that asshole guy later takes the tip jar around and gathers more tips...then hands it to this other guy. The asshole then proceeds to reach into the tip jar and steals our tips! Can you believe the guy. When we said something about it, the guy said he saw a dancer take the money away!! Luckily though, Tiffany took the money when she did otherwise there wouldn't have been any tips for us. That guy took a huge handful of bills too (I and Tiffany's husband saw this). That's not it either. This same asshole who groped Nichole and stole our money then goes up to Tiffany (WITH THE STOLEN MONEY NO LESS) and says to her "How much would it take for you to take off your top?" She said no amount of money because she's a class act. He said so you don't want this money? She told him to go away and he finally left her alone.

At least we got free food and alchohol out of the deal. We did make $42 each in tips too. But Darren is a bit mad at me for not leaving when the first incident happened. That was pretty stupid on our parts.

Rich men are assholes.

Bad thing was there were two SCAD guys filming this documentary. He interviewed us and we gave them a piece of our mind. They were so sorry for us. It was kinda funny.

I was looking over the info for the Tribal PURA workshop and it seems that Sherry is inviting people to perform Saturday night. We have to send in a tape by December 6th I believe.

Just something to ponder. . .

It would be cool, but it would also be cool to just sit back and enjoy the performances also. Plus I could quite possibly get extremely shy and nervous dancing beneath the gaze of Carolena Nericcio. ; )

Our website is back up

Okay, I was having problems with my old webhosting account. I went with another account and so now our website can be updated more often. I've added pictures of old performances or poses by members. If any of you ladies have other pictures of yourself that you'd like on the website, email them to me and I'll add them.

One question though, should I include separate links to each performance or just keep adding new photographs to the main gallery page? I'm interested in ideas and opinions.

photos from medieval festival

Hey guys

I have a lot of pics from the festival Saturday. My husband got quite a few pics and short clips from the Dunyavi drum, cane, my solo, Kecia's solo, and I believe Carrie's as well. My sister-in-law also got some great pics and my cousin took some too.

I'm going to try to compile all of these. It's a lot of pics so what's the best way to send them? Zip file? I've heard of this process but don't really know how to do it. . .

I haven't seen my cousin's pics yet and my sister-in-law showed hers to me last night. She'll probably send them through Ofoto or something.

Let me know what you need me to do. Did anyone else get any photos?

Hello All

This is addressed to my troupemates, but perhaps some of my tribe friends would be able to offer some suggestions. . . Our first costume is going to be ghawazee coats with gomleks worn underneath. You know, those long, angel-wing tunic things.
Anyone know where to find some or even get a pattern that we could follow?

What are we going to do about the gomleks? We've got about 2 weeks until the next performance. We have to hurry up and get something together.
